Cause of the condition:
The cause of Paraplegia is most commonly a result of a traumatic injury to the spinal cords
nervous tissue or it can also be a result of inflammation and swelling which occurs around
the point of the injury.
Another cause of paraplegia can also be by non-traumatic and congenital factors
such as spinal tumours called scoliosis and/or spina bifida.
Spinal cord injuries resulting in paraplegia are known as either "Complete" or "Incomplete"
injuries.
Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP ) it can refer to a group of inherited disorders that are
characterized by the progressive weaknesses and stiffness of the legs.
These symptoms of HSP typically slowly progress so that eventually individuals that sufffer
from HSP may require the assistance of a cane, walker or wheelchair.
